Taylor Electric Company (TEC) is DBE/MBE certified with the City of Chicago, IDOT and Central Management Services (CMS).  We are licensed with the city of Chicago and fully insured (based on industry standards and statutory limits). Our bonding capacity is $2.5mil per project, $10mil aggregate. TEC maintains a written safety program and has an excellent safety record and a current EMR of .82.

Taylor Electric Company is a third generation family owned and operated business, currently run by Martha Taylor, the founder’s grand-daughter. 

 

Martha Taylor, President/Chief Executive Officer, practically grew up at Taylor Electric, working weekends and summers in the office as a teenager, before leaving Chicago to study business and accounting at Florida A&M University.  After college, Martha returned to Taylor Electric as Controller, assisting with the financial and administrative duties of the growing company before assuming the duties of President/CEO in 1995.

 

 

Founded in 1922, Taylor Electric Company is the oldest African American owned and operated construction firm in Chicago.

 

Taylor Electric is a full service electrical contractor providing in house estimating and project management. 

Our team consists of a core crew of electricians

with an average tenure of more than 10years, three full-time estimator/project managers and a top-notch administrative staff.

 

    Taylor Electric is signature to Principal, Residential and Communication agreements with IBEW Local #134 and is licensed with the City of Chicago to perform electrical inside wiring, as well as low voltage and maintenance work throughout Chicago and Cook County.
